How to keep churning out marketing content, even when you’ve said it all before

As a marketer do you sometimes feel a bit ‘meh’ about your marketing content? Does it feel like you’ve exhausted every single angle, explored every nook and cranny of the marketing world, and you often find yourself staring at a blank screen, wondering, “what else can I possibly say?”

Yep, me too!

marketing content

Here are a few ideas to keep your content fresh, engaging, and hopefully helpful:

Rehash the same old stuff

The wheel doesn’t need reinventing, it just needs repackaging! Just because you’ve written about social media marketing a million times doesn’t mean you can’t write about it again. Simply repackage it as “The Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing in 2024”.

Change the format

If you’ve written about it before, try a different format. A blog post could become a video, an infographic, or even a TikTok dance challenge (ok, maybe not the last one but you get the idea).

Go old school

Bring back old school marketing concepts and give them a modern twist. For example, you could write a blog post about the resurgence of direct mail marketing in the digital age. If you can tap into nineties nostalgia even better!

Everyone loves a list

Lists are a classic content format for a reason. They’re easy to consume and perfect for breaking down complex topics. Create a list of “marketing mistakes to avoid”, “the best marketing tools for SMEs” or my favourite “the most overused marketing buzzwords of 2024” (AI integration, marketing funnel, influencers, viral, omnichannel, customer journey & personalisation to name but a few).

Curate marketing content

Instead of creating original marketing content all the time, curate the best content from other sources and share it with your audience. Add your own insights and commentary to make it your own.

Take a break

A change in scenery can really help with creativity so step away from the keyboard and take some time out from marketing. When you come back, hopefully you’ll be inspired and ready to go again!

Of course, if all else fails, just write about how hard it is to write about marketing!
